Language lab
Empirical studies in linguistics can be carried out in different ways. Sometimes data can be collected in field research, through interviews with native speakers of a language. Sometimes, however, special infrastructure is required. At the University of Graz, there are several laboratory resources specifically for linguistic studies. For example, there is a laboratory at Mozartgasse 8 with several workstations and an eye tracker. There is also a specialized virtual server for web-based experiments and recording studios.
Eye tracking
With our Gazepoint 3HD eye tracker, we are able to carry out simple eye tracking studies that do not require a particularly high temporal and spatial resolution.
Computer workstations for experimental studies
In our language lab, you have the opportunity to take part in various experiments in a controlled environment at the PC workstations set up there. These include priming experiments, reading time studies and special on-screen paradigms.
