Participation in experiments for curricular credits

Requirements

  • Bachelor and Master students with curricula from the faculty of Humanities have the possibility of getting up to three ECTS credits accounted for the practical effort in participating in experiments as well as reading and comprehending relevant literature. See also: https://gewi.uni-graz.at/en/studieren/bachelors-programme/practical-training-abroad/
  • The application for the dean’s office must take place before participating in an experiment.  The person leading the experiment is obliged to make sure there is an approval for the credits. Without the approval students can not take part in any experiments.
  • An experimental unit (‘EE’ in the following) usually consists of participating in a linguistic experiment and a follow up review of the experiment consisting of reading relevant literature and writing a short summary. Participating in complex experiments can also involve multiple EEs.
  • One EE is considered to take up 25 working hours. It is possible to complete one or up to three EEs. Spliting and achieving parts of EEs is not possible.
  • After completing an EE, a responsible person will confirm your completion in the official application form, which can be found online. („Antrag auf Genehmigung der Absolvierung einer berufsorientierten/facheinschlägigen Praxis”) The student is then asked to hand in the filled out form at the dean’s office, where the achieved credits are registered into the online system.
  • LingLab confirms the scientific quality of the coursework by assigning experiment numbers prior to the start of the experiment.
  • Participating in an experiment can grant you up to 3 ECTS credit points.
  • For your support and cooperation in planning and executing an experiment within the framework of a mentoring program for experimental linguistics, you can obtain 4 ECTS credit points.
  • You can either perform bullet point g. or h. above, but not both.
